A better end to a hard week

This week has been a tough one -

I’ve already written below about our good friend Geir from Norway. If you read this Geir, there are a lot of people praying for you. We believe God’s got plenty of good stuff for you yet. Keep close.

OscarOn Wednesday, it was confirmed that our dog, Oscar was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his abdomen. Unfortunately, it’s large and extends to the liver. The vet couldn’t operate.

We’ve been giving Oscar lots of attention, cuddles and nice food. It took him a couple of days to get over the anaesthetic to work it’s way out of his system. However, he doesn’t seem much the worse for it. He’s been bouncing around as if nothing has happened.

We’ve shed a few tears over the prospect of loosing him. I can’t believe we’re so emotionally attached to him. I now understand when people call a dog ‘a man’s best friend’.

Andreas, Daniel, Peter and JonathanOn Friday, I went with Jonathan to his friend, James’ funeral. It was amazing to see the impact this very talented young man had made with so many. It was tragic too to grasp that his life had been cut short so soon.

If there is any good from such an occasion, it was that we met up with some of Jonathan’s friends from Malmo. Andreas, Peter and Daniel. I took a photo of them all together. From the photo you’d think they were a ‘boy band’! I’ve included a photo – if you can come up with a name for them, let me know (no rude ones please!)

On Saturday, we did a sponteneous thing and drove down to Rhosilli Bay. It was beautiful! The weather was hot, the sun strong and nature’s healing balm did us good. Even Oscar could’t believe how good life could be. We all need days like these. Days to let go of pain, worries and stress. Days to wander aimlessly in wide open spaces, take in beauty and realise your finiteness.

I just hope this next wek is a better one …
